Go where?

I saw a car the other day with a license plate that read:

C  NT  GO

I can only assume that this means “See (person with the initials) NT go.”  Or maybe “Can’t go?”  Doesn’t matter.  When I saw this, three of the letters jumped off the plate and pulsated at me like one of those old Warner Brother cartoons.   And I giggled out loud.

Let’s just say that these people should be glad I’m not their neighbor.  I would always be just 2 beers and a permanent marker away from filling in the blank.

Where does the time go?!

What do a dog’s birthday party,  a trip to Florida,  a Jason Mraz concert,  Thanksgiving and lots of holiday crafting have in common?  They are all things I have been meaning to blog about.  Spare time is hard to come by these days but I will get around to the important posts.  In the meantime I leave you with wishes for a very Happy New Year.  Stay safe!

A good boss is hard to find.

And I am lucky enough to have one of the few good bosses out there.  I won’t go into all of the reasons why she is a great boss, just suffice it to say that someecards has managed to say it for me once again.

I heart my TomTom.

Yes, I am behind the times on this one.  This past weekend Andy and I broke down and bought a navigation device.  We chose the TomTom brand because. . .well. . .it was on sale.  We both do a lot of driving and we were both sick of printing off internet directions every time we were going somewhere new.  There were also several occasions where it would have come in handy for finding a place when we were already out and about. 

It talks to me.  It recalculates my route when I screw up.  It’s small and slick.  I feel like a kid with a new toy.  I wish I was travelling today just so I could use it.

My experience with navigation devices is pretty limited so I have a lot to learn.  I also have plenty of programming to do to make sure I am using it to its full capabilities.  But so far I am pretty impressed.  And smitten.

An instant messenger conversation at work

You know you have conversations JUST LIKE THIS at work. . .

Meghan: OMG

Peter: WHAT?

Meghan: New guy has weird nasal issues and (name withheld)’s unnecessarily long phone conversations make me crazy!

Meghan: I NEED A CEILING!

Peter: What, is he a loogie swallower?

Meghan: Wierd, short sniffles.

Peter: Like he has a flaky booger on the outer rim of his left nostril and he uses short, staccato sniffle bursts in an effort to dislodge and suck it back into booger circulation?

Meghan: YES!

Peter: I’m sorry, but that was some of my best writing EVER!

Peter: I’m still fuckin laughing over here

Peter: “booger circulation”

Meghan: That was good.

Peter: I know it’s not cool to laugh at your own jokes, but damn girl, I am ON today!!!!

Andy: How’s the wedding planning coming along?

My dear, sweet stepmom walks over and joins in the coversation.

Brett: Pretty good.  We have most of it done.  The ceremony is going to take place on the porch of the Grand Hotel.

Andy: Sounds awesome.

Stepmom: Oh, you’re getting married?

Brett: Yes, I am.

Stepmom: Is the girl here?

Brett: No. . .but it’s not a girl.  His name is Mark.

Stepmom: Oh. (smiles and nods)

John: Did you hear that Flight of the Conchords is coming to Milwaukee?

Meghan: Hellz yeah.  I already got tickets.  I was so excited I blogged about it.

John: I’m so excited I just blogged in my pants.

Becky: I know!  Carrie did such a good job.  She’s awesome.

Meghan: Andy, knock me up before her prices skyrocket. 

Becky: Yeah, Andy.  Drop the load, yo!

John: Becky, I’m pretty sure that is the weirdest thing you have ever said in front of our friends.

Andy: I’ve never ridden a moped.  I think I’m way too tall.

It’s been one of those weeks.

I heart Flight of the Conchords

If you haven’t watched an episode of Flight of the Conchords, you are missing out.  I will admit — the first time Andy and I watched an episode, we didn’t really get it.  But we gave it a second chance and now we are hooked.  It’s slow, dry and silly.   And hilarious.

Now I’m super dooper excited because Bret and Jemaine are coming to town and I have tickets!  Andy has his business socks ready for the show.  I finally have a place to wear my I heart FOTC sweatshirt where people will actually get it.  When I wear it out in public, this is a commom experience:

Stranger: I love F. . .OTC?  What is FOTC?

Me: Flight of thr Conchords

Stranger: . . .

Me: It’s a TV show. . . band.  It’s a TV show about a band.  But they also tour. 

Stanger: Oh.
